Dong Thap expects to harvest 24,788 MT of pangasius
To the end of August 2012, Dong Thap province harvested fish in the area of 6,571 hectares. In which, pangasius farming expanse reached 1,457.48 hectares, including 701.49 hectares harvested and other 756 hectares in production. Surface area used for scampi cultivation was 1,206.6 hectares of which 210 hectares are coming into harvest. Superficies for other fish aquaculture reached 3,907 hectares in which 2,026 hectares were harvested and 1,880 hectares were in production.

In the eight months of
2012, total fish production of the Mekong Delta-based province
reached291,386 MT, including 256,383 MT of pangasius, 258 MT of scampi.
It expected to harvest 24,788 MT of pangasius on the surface of 82.63 hectares
in September 2012.
In August, Dong Thap also
reported 2,492 MT of marine fish landings, boosting the year-to-date production
of wild-caught fish to 6,024 MT.
