Vietnam seafood import - export in the first 6 months enjoy growth
According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the fisheries export value in June 2014 was estimated at US $536 million, bringing the Jan-June figure to US $3.45 billion, an increase of 24.2 per cent compared to the same period of 2013.

The U.S has still maintained its position as the leading importer of Vietnamese seafoods, accounting for 23 per cent of the country’s total export value. The seafood exports to this market in the first 5 months of this year amounted to US $671.86 million, up 45.83 per cent over the same period of 2013.
The seafood exports to most of the major markets such as Japan, South Korea and China during the first 5 months of the year surged by 8.36, 45.92 and 51.74 per cent, respectively.
MARD also reported that the seafood import value of June was estimated at US $60 million, raising the import turnover of first 6 months to US $482 million, an increase of 70.4 per cent compared to the same period of 2013.
The two major importers are India and Taiwan (posting 34.5 per cent and 6.2 per cent, respectively). China is Vietnam’s 8th largest seafood importer, representing 3 per cent of the total import value. The total seafood import turnover from this market during the first 5 months of 2014 increased by 20.9 per cent from the same period of 2013
