The EU is the largest export market of Vietnamese shrimp, accounting for 24.7 percent of Vietnam’s total shrimp exports. Vietnam’s shrimp exports to this market as of September this year reached 648.4 million USD, up 11 percent over the same period in 2017.

The EU reamined as the largest importing market of Vietnamese shrimp in the first 7 months of this year, accounting for nearly 25%. Vietnam’s shrimp exports to EU registered the good growth in the first half of the year. However, exports to this market in July began to fall by 14.6% to see US$74 million. This was driven by a dip in the price of raw shrimp which affected on the export price. In the first seven months of this year, Vietnam’s shrimp exports to the EU market reached US$479.8 million, an increase of 26% over the same period last year.
