Shrimp exports grow slightly

After a slight decrease of 5% in QII/2018, Vietnam’s shrimp exports in the first month of QIII decreased by 20.3% to see US$294.5 million. The figure in the first 7 months of this year estimated at US$1.9 billion, a slight rise of 0.2% over the same period last year.

In 2017, the UK was the only market with the positive growth in pangasius imports from Vietnam. By the end of the year, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to this market valued at US$45.7 million, accounting for 2.6% of the total export value, up 2.5% over 2016. With this value, the Netherlands and the UK stayed as the two largest pangasius exporters of Vietnam.
Vietnam’s whiteleg shrimp exports are projected to continue the increase in 2018

From 2013 until now, whiteleg shrimp always accounted for over 50% in the total export turnover of shrimp and increasingly express its key position. This item expected to continue to be a key export item in the coming time, contributing significantly to the total export turnover of shrimp in particular and seafood in general. Vietnam’s whiteleg shrimp exports are projected to continue the increase in 2018.
Vietnam’s pangasius exports to Brazil up 66.2% over the same period last year

As of 15th Oct 2017, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to Brazil totaled US$79.6 million, up 66.2% over the same period last year. This is considered as one of the potential importing markets of Vietnam with the good growth. In particular, in September 2017, exports to the market hit US$6.73 million, up 103.3% over the same period last year. Sales to the market reached the highest growth in the first three quarters of this year.
