Vietnam eyeing more pangasius sales to Russia

Vietnam's seafood export group believes that pangasius producers can find opportunity in Russian markets due to the country's ongoing import ban on most western countries' seafood.
VIETNAM TO BOOST TUNA EXPORTS TO ISRAEL

Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam are top 3 largest suppliers of tuna to Israel. According to the ITC, as of Jun 2016, tuna imports into Israel totaled over US$37 million, in which, imports from Thailand hit US$10.8 million, imports from Philiipines hit US$8 million and imports from Vietnam reached nearly US$7 million.
VIETNAM RAISED EXPORTING FRESH/FROZEN TUNA

After the decline in 3 consecutive years, Vietnam tuna exports this year showed signs of recovery. Tuna sales in August 2016 hit US$43.8 million, up 10% year on year. Through August 2016, the figure was US$309.8 million, up 2.1% year on year.
VIETNAM CEPHALOPOD EXPORTS TO AUSTRALIA WENT UP

According to Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s cephalopod exports in the first 7 months of this year totaled US$2.55 million, up 29.1% compared to the same period in 2015. Of these, despite a small proportion of 1.2%, cephalopod exports from Vietnam to Australia recorded a good growth compared to main importers of Vietnam. In July 2016, exports to this market reached US$447 thousand, up 31.2% over the same period in 2015.
QIV/2016: VIETNAM PANGASIUS EXPORTS TO ASEAN TO RISE 10%

Currently, ASEAN stayed as the 4th rank in top largest importers of Vietnam pangasius (after the U.S., EU and China-Hong Kong). As of July 2016, Vietnam pangasius exports to the region valued at US$79.8 million, up 0.2% compared to the same period last year. Out of the bloc, Thailand, Singapore and the Philippines, top 3 largest buyers of Vietnam pangasius, recorded the year-on-year increases of 1.3%; 1.6% and 4.4%, respectively.
GOOD GROWTH IN VIETNAM SHRIMP SALES TO NETHERLANDS

In 2015, the Netherlands stayed as the 3rd largest importer of Vietnam shrimp in the EU bloc. After the growth in the first 3 months of 2015, Vietnam's shrimp exports to the Netherlands declined continuously from April to the end of the year. Entering 2016, shrimp exports to this market continued to decline in the first two months of 2016. Between March and June 2016, the Netherlands reported the continuous growth in importing Vietnam shrimp in which imports reached the highest value of US$14.8 million in June, up 98.3% compared to June 2015.
PANGASIUS EXPORTS TO US, CHINA AND BRAZIL INCHED UP

In the first half of this year, Vietnam pangasius exports reached US$790.2 million, up 5.4% year on year. Exports to the US, China-Hong Kong and Brazil reported the year-on-year growth but exports to EU, ASEAN, Mexico, Colombia, Saudi Arabia saw the reduction.
US: RISE IN SHRIMP IMPORTS FROM VIETNAM

Vietnam shrimp exports to the U.S. in May 2016 reached US$49.5 million; up 2.5% compared to May 2015. The figure to the market in the first 5 months of this year hit US$249.3 million; up 17.4% over the same period last year.
