In the first 6 months of 2023, Vietnam's shrimp exports reached 1.5 billion USD, down 32% over the same period. Market demand, raw shrimp prices and export prices all went down, inflation increased, and strong competition with other suppliers made Vietnam's shrimp exports difficult in the first half of 2023. Shrimp farmers and businesses are still expecting more positive signals for shrimp production and export activities in the second half of this year.

In February 2023, Vietnam's tuna exports to the UK suddenly increased more than 13 times over the same period, reaching 971 thousand USD. This positive result offset the decrease in January and brought the total export turnover in the first two months of 2023 to more than $1.3 million, nearly 3 times higher than the same period in 2022. The UK is currently the 15th largest single tuna import market of Vietnam.

According to statistics of Vietnam Customs, the value of Vietnam's tuna exports to this market during this period is not stable. Accumulated in the first 10 months of 2022 tuna export turnover to Spain reached nearly 19 million USD, up 4% over the same period in 2021, but still lower than before the pandemic.
